2nd Thematic programme: The Institutions of the Union In the thematic programme on “The Institutions of the Union” all the decision-making and consultation boards operating within the Community institutional structure were presented. In particular, the tasks, functioning and the decision-making procedures of the institutions were described by the presentation of the typical activities of each one of them, paying particular attention to the procedure of creation of the European legal acts and their impact on national politics and also aspects having a stronger impact on the citizens’ daily life. Getting inspiration from common elements such as the historical evolution, the composition, the internal organisation, the powers and competences, representatives of the community institutions and representatives of the academic world outlined the overall institutional framework of the Union. In particular: Rocco Cangelosi, Ambassador and Permant Representative of Italy at the EU, analysed the European Council, the Council of Ministers, the European Commission, the European Parliament, the European Central Bank and the Europeann Bank of Investments. Carlo Curti Gialdino, Professor of Community Law and Vice-President of the Istituto di Studi Europei “A.
